Durable, weather-ready siding replacement and exterior cladding for Queens homes, from rowhouses in Astoria to detached houses in Bayside. We re-clad facades to shed water, cut drafts, and hold up to coastal wind and freeze-thaw cycles.
The basics
Siding work is the removal and replacement of a home's exterior cladding, the weather barrier that protects the wall behind it. In Queens this usually means stripping old vinyl, aluminum, or fiber cement, repairing sheathing, adding a water-resistive barrier and flashing, then installing new cladding sized for wind, rain, and freeze-thaw conditions.
Scope

We remove old cladding, inspect the sheathing and framing for rot or water damage, and document anything that needs repair before new material goes on.

A house wrap or building paper is installed over the sheathing so wind-driven rain drains out rather than soaking the wall assembly.

Window, door, and corner flashing is detailed to direct water away from openings, a common failure point on older Queens homes.

Vinyl, fiber cement, engineered wood, or composite panels installed to manufacturer spec with proper fastening and expansion gaps.

We coordinate eave details and downspouts so the new exterior sheds water cleanly and ventilates the roof line.

Old material is hauled off and the site is cleared. We confirm caulk lines, penetrations, and trim are sealed before we close out.
NYC specifics
Like-for-like residing on a one or two family home is often treated as ordinary repair, but the details matter in Queens. Here is what tends to apply.
Straight re-cladding usually does not need a permit, but changing the wall assembly, adding insulation that shifts the exterior wall, or altering openings can trigger a DOB Alt-2 filing. Work that touches use, egress, or occupancy moves toward Alt-1.
If the home sits in a designated historic district or is a landmark, the Landmarks Preservation Commission must approve any visible facade change, including siding material, profile, and color. That approval comes before DOB.
In attached or multi-unit buildings, an alteration agreement and board sign-off are typically required before exterior work begins. We help assemble the scope documents boards ask for.
In FEMA AE and coastal zones across the Rockaways and Broad Channel, flood-resistant materials below the design flood elevation matter. Added exterior insulation should also meet NYC Energy Conservation Code where it applies.
