Poured concrete driveways, walkways, patios, slabs, steps, and footings for Queens homes, from Ozone Park to Jamaica. We grade for drainage, set proper bases, and finish flatwork that stays level and crack-free through the NYC freeze and thaw.
The basics
Concrete work covers poured flatwork and structural concrete around the home: driveways, walkways, patios, slabs, steps, and the footings that carry porches, decks, and additions. The difference between concrete that lasts and concrete that cracks in two winters is almost always what is underneath, so we focus on compacted base, reinforcement, slope, and frost-depth footings. Note that the public sidewalk is a separate, DOT-regulated job, which we cover on our sidewalks page.
Scope

Poured and reinforced concrete driveways graded to drain, with control joints to manage cracking.

Front walks, side paths, and yard paths poured level and pitched away from the house.

Backyard patios, shed slabs, and equipment pads on a compacted, well-drained base.

Frost-depth footings and foundation work for porches, decks, additions, and structural loads.

Formed, reinforced steps and landings tied into solid footings so they do not settle or crack.

Crack repair, resurfacing, and slab leveling where the base is sound and a full tear-out is not needed.
NYC specifics
On-grade residential flatwork such as driveways, walkways, and patios generally does not need a DOB permit. Two things commonly do require approvals: a new or widened driveway needs a DOT curb-cut permit where it crosses the sidewalk and curb, and any structural footing or foundation work needs a DOB filing. Concrete in the public sidewalk area is DOT territory and follows the sidewalk rules, not the flatwork rules.
Drainage matters to the city as well as to your foundation. Your grading has to keep water off neighboring property and out of the public right-of-way. We set slope and base so runoff moves where it should and footings stay below the frost line so the slab does not heave.
On-grade flatwork (typically no DOB permit) versus structural footings (DOB filing). A new or widened driveway needs a DOT curb cut. Public sidewalk concrete follows DOT sidewalk rules. Drainage and grading that respect neighbors and the right-of-way. Frost-depth footings under any structure.
